The use of computer assisted instruction is increasingly common in many disciplines in the world. Although these materials are generally used as substitute for class meeting in the rapidly growing area of distance education. Little is known about the effectiveness of these computer assisted supplements to face to face instruction. How intensively will students utilize online course materials increase comprehension and relation? Despite the paucity of answer to these and similar questions, the rush to make on-lined technology an important component of Secondary Education continues. This study assesses the effectiveness of on-line materials in economic course. It is offered as traditional face to face course for several years by the instructors with no computer assisted component.

In this case, supplemental computer assisted components are added to existing course without a complete overhaul of the design and pedagogical approach.

These are many advantages to an analysis of the effectiveness of computer assisted instructional techniques in this particular setting. Many research works had been carried out on the effects that Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) especially the use of web-bases materials have in the academic performance of Nigeria economic students yet little in the efforts could be show for it.

This piece of study has raised some questions on the effects of CAI learning outcomes of Nigeria students in economic in Secondary Schools.

1. How far have the economic gone in using computer assisted instructions?
2. Could the use of internet and other computer assisted resources bring positive changes to academic activities make than actually computer literates in economics?
3. Does the use of computer assisted instructional materials make the actually computer literates?
4. What is the percentage of students in economics in secondary school that have developed in the effective use of computer assisted instructional materials?

In specific terms, it is quite apparent that student in economics have problems in the use of Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) in their academic pursuits. Consequently, some of the students have little or no interest in making use of this so-called computer assisted instructional materials.
