FACTORS INHIBITING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN IKERE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EKITI STATE

ABSTRACT

The main purpose of the study is to look into those factors inhibiting the implementation of continuous assessment in secondary schools in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State. A sample of 80 teachers were selected from 8 secondary schools through a stratify random sampling techniques. Three research questions were formulated to guide the study teachers’ continuous assessment attitude rating scale (TCAARS) which were used to generate data.

The result revealed that many teachers are not professionally qualified and as such lack the skills to construct and administer CA test in Secondary schools, also large student population or classes, lack of motivation, lack of facilitates for record keeping.

The data collected were analyzed using simple percentage.
