TEACHER’S EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION AS A PREDICATOR FOR STUDENTS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN MATHEMATICS IN IKERE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EKITI STATE.
This study investigated teacher’s experience and qualification as a predicator for students academic performance in mathematics in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State. The study adopted descriptive research design. Study population comprises of some selected Senior Secondary Schools in the selected local government area. A sample of 5 Schools was drawn from the population through the process of simple random sampling technique,. An inventory schedule was the instrument used for data collection. 100 questionnaires, 20 questionnaires per school were administered.. Their responses were analyzed through content analysis. Descriptive statistic by the use of frequency statistical table and simple percentage were used to test hypotheses generated for the study. Findings reveal that teachers’ teaching experience has significantly influenced students’ academic performance in Mathematics as measured by their performance in the SSC examinations and as perceived by the respondents. Schools having more teachers with above 10 years teaching experience achieved better results than schools having more teachers with 10 years and below teaching experience.
