According to Maurice (1996), Nigerian is a multi-lingual society with indigenous language totaling about four hundred and fifty (450), which represent about of the total language in African countries.
Before the advent of the Europeans in Nigeria, there will be no unifying language to promote national goals and aspirations. And so when the British settlers and non-existence of a national language in the country became a big barrier for them to communicate effective with the natives.
